Old cemetery
To the north-west of the city center, the densely built-up Bergkirchen and Maria-Hilf districts are adjoined by the beautiful "Alter Friedhof" recreational area with extensive lawns under magnificent trees.
Opening hours
The "Alter Friedhof" leisure area is open daily from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. from May to August and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from September to April.
Over 27,000 people, including celebrities such as the Duchess of Nassau and Remigius Fresenius, once found their final resting place here. Today, the "Old Cemetery" is a place of communication for many, but also a place of peace. Located directly on Platter Straße, today's recreational area is a green oasis in the middle of the city.
In 2010, the grounds were extensively renovated and a play paradise with a high quality of stay for young and old was created.
