The cemeteries at the main church and Kappenberg are the predecessors of today's cemetery, located above the railroad line to Biebricher Berg. The parishes of Biebrich and Mosbach, which used to be administered independently of each other, probably already occupied the cemetery at the main church together before 1066. The cemetery on Kappenberg was opened in 1785, but its capacity was soon exhausted due to the casualties of the war of 1792/93. After the rights to use the graves had expired, the area of the cemetery on Kappenberg was built over again.

The current Biebrich cemetery was opened in 1855. The mourning hall and the other buildings were only added after several extensions in 1891, making Biebrich cemetery the third largest in Wiesbaden. From 1904 onwards, the area was developed into a beautiful park cemetery. Many Wiesbaden personalities from the worlds of science, art, business, church and politics found their final resting place here. Incidentally, the first ever urn burial in the city of Wiesbaden took place here in 1897. Due to the long use of the site, there are inevitably also listed graves here, for which sponsorships are welcome.

The following types of grave are possible at Biebrich Cemetery:
