The military quarter

The Feldherrenviertel on the outer Westend was built for the lower middle class and the streets were named after famous generals of the Wars of Liberation and the War of 1870-1871.

Reinhard Baumeister, who was responsible for the urban planning concept of 1894, introduced curved streets and thus turned away from the rigid grid layout of the Südstadt and the Westend.

Between 1888 and 1910, the section up to the boundary of Scharnhorststraße was built on, followed by the western part of the Feldherrenviertel.
