The poet's quarter

The buildings in the Dichterviertel represent a range of historicist styles and at the same time vividly illustrate the development of tenement construction. Gutenbergplatz, the entrance to the Dichterviertel, and Mosbacher Straßen were opened in 1900. Two years later, construction began on Wielandstrasse, Scheffelstrasse, Schenkendorfstrasse, Niederwaldstrasse and Kleiststrasse, followed by the area around Kleiststrasse and Klopstockstrasse by 1910.
