Maharadsha Gaekwar from Baroda, India

On May 30, 1932, Maharadsha Gaekwar of Baroda signed the Golden Book of the city of Wiesbaden.

Baroda was a princely state and belonged to the colonial territory of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland as part of India until 1947.

Maharaja Sayaji Rao III Gaekwad ruled from 1875 to 1939 and modernized the state by founding a university, among other things. As the highest representative of his state, the Maharaja and his entourage embarked on a tour of Europe in the spring of 1932. He visited Wiesbaden and signed the city's Golden Book during a ceremony in the town hall.

With India's independence, the monarchy in Baroda came to an end and the formerly independent state was integrated into the present-day Indian state of Gujarat.
