Milwaukee Men's Choral Society

On May 19, 1953, the members of the male choral society "Liederkranz" from Milwaukee, USA signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.

On May 19, 1953, around sixty members of the Liederkranz choral society from Milwaukee in the US visited the Hessian state capital on their tour of Germany.

After successful concerts in Hamburg and Bonn, among other places, they first visited the Henkell sparkling wine producer during their stop in Wiesbaden. After a sample of the famous drop, the singers were welcomed in the town hall, just like their predecessors forty years ago. There they were greeted with a serenade by the Wiesbadener Männergesangsverein. The Americans responded to the musical greeting with the song "Harmonie hält uns zusammen" (Harmony keeps us together), proving that they could not only speak and sing German but also preserve German songs on the other side of the Atlantic.

After congratulating the choral society on its recent 75th anniversary, its members signed the city's Golden Book in the presence of the President of the North American Choral Society, Paul Wagner.
