Dr. Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin
On October 14, 2007, Dr. Angela Merkel and Vladimir Putin signed the Golden Book of the City of Wiesbaden.
During the Petersburg Dialogue from October 13 to 15, 2007, German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel and Russian President Vladimir Putin made a brief public appearance at the Wiesbaden Kurhaus.
The representatives of the city had to wait for almost an hour in the grounds, which were cordoned off for security reasons, before the state guests finally arrived in the Kaiser Wilhelm Salon.
In front of sixty invited guests, Putin and Dr. Merkel finally signed the city's Golden Book.
Due to the tight schedule, there was no time for speeches, as a number of contracts had to be signed after ten representatives from ministries and companies from both countries. The state visit ended after just ten minutes with the Chancellor saying "Okay, that's it. Bye, it was nice here."
