70 years of Künstlergruppe50 Wiesbaden 1950 to 2020

From September 4 to 27, 2020, "sam" presented the special exhibition of the Wiesbaden Artists' Group50 to mark its 70th anniversary.

The group takes its name from the year it was founded. In 1950, Wiesbaden artists came together to be able to work freely as artists after the shackles of the Nazi dictatorship had been cast off. The founding members were Christa Moering (1916 to 2013) and the painter Heinz-Rudi Müller (1919 to 1992), both of whom were trained by Vincent Weber, the long-time director of the Wiesbaden Werkkunstschule.

However, the aim of the group was and is not to follow a common guideline, but to exchange ideas, inspire each other and maintain their own individuality. As a result, a wide variety of techniques can be found within the group: painting, graphics, photographic art, sculpture and installations. The special exhibition in the Marktkeller, curated by Galerie Nero, Susanne Kiessling, was just as diverse.
