Theatrium: Celebrating on the Rue
The Theatrium - one of the oldest and most popular festivals in Wiesbaden - is celebrated over three days at the beginning of June. From Friday to Sunday, all guests are invited to stroll, feast and stroll along the "Rue".
In addition to Wilhelmstraße (the "Rue"), there will also be celebrations on Warmen Damm, Burgstraße, on the Bowling Green and in front of the concert shell behind the Kurhaus.
An extensive program is offered on five stages by various bands and dance schools. There will also be 170 food stands and fairground rides. Walking acts and various rides such as the Ferris wheel in front of the Kurhaus also provide entertainment. Around 70 artists present their individual products at the arts and crafts market in front of the concert shell. Children can play at the Warme Damm. ESWE Verkehr offers a practical event ticket so that visitors can enjoy the festival carefree and without the stress of searching for a parking space.
History
The Theatrium was launched in 1977 to mark the reopening of the renovated Hessisches Staatstheater. Over bratwurst, beer and artistic interludes, the citizens of Wiesbaden were given the opportunity to bid for props and costumes from the Hessian State Theatre's collection - the name Theatrium (theater and atrium = outdoors) was born. The following year, parts of Wilhelmstraße were cordoned off for the first time. The festival around the State Theater, on the Bowling Green and on Wilhelmstrasse soon developed into a much-attended event. This is why, in addition to the name Theatrium, "Wilhelmstraßenfest" also came to be used for this major event
