Fuse for transformation processes
The "real laboratories" provide impetus for the revitalization of the city centre, from which suggestions and perspectives for further development and additional measures can emerge.
In the context of strategy development, the federal program "Sustainable inner cities and centers" supports specific individual measures to strengthen and develop inner cities and centers with so-called real-world laboratories.
As temporary installations, they are intended to offer new uses and places to spend time on a trial basis and thus serve as a fuse for transformation processes in the districts in order to actively counter structural change.
The aim of the program is to support cities and municipalities in overcoming acute and structural problems in city centers, town centers and district centers by (further) developing them into multifunctional, resilient and cooperative places as places of identification for the municipality.
The following ideas were implemented in Wiesbaden
- A temporary play container on Schlossplatz
- Two Hollywood swings in the middle of climate-friendly grass and shrub planting on the Dern site
- Eight parasols with seating at various locations in the city center
The various "real laboratories" are intended to find out how new offers can sustainably increase the quality of stay in the city center and biodiversity in the area of the Dern'schen site and Schlossplatz.
