Vibrant city center

Easter market with 70 stands and ring shuttle bus for the first time

The Wiesbaden Easter market took place from April 4 to 6 in the city center. In addition to the fabric market, there were once again arts and crafts, Easter decorations, accessories for the home and garden, culinary delights, lots of music and a varied program for children. A ring shuttle bus was used for the first time.

With 70 stands, the 23rd Easter market offered a large selection of handicrafts, textiles and decorative and unusual gift ideas. Visitors could also look forward to high-quality delicacies and culinary delights. With its variety, the Easter market was a crowd-puller - especially for families, who were able to enjoy a relaxed stroll on the open Sunday. It also provided an important platform for local businesses. The open-air event was organized by Wiesbaden Congress & Marketing GmbH (WICM). The stalls stretched along the pedestrian zone from Rheinstraße via Mauritiusplatz to Michelsberg.

A new feature was a ring shuttle bus for visitors to the city center on shopping Sundays. The service was an initiative of Wiesbaden wunderbar and was free of charge for passengers. The shuttle bus ran from 12.30 to 18.30 during the opening hours of the stores in an approximately 20-minute loop around and through the historic pentagon. It took customers from the city and private parking garages in the city center to convenient stops near the stores and then back to their vehicles with their purchases. The joint campaign was implemented with the support of the Europa-Schule Dr. Obermayr, which provided the bus.

In order to make longer journeys to the open Sunday stress-free and climate-friendly, the mayor's department financed the free use of buses and trains throughout the city of Wiesbaden. Anyone who came to the Easter market by bike in a sustainable and climate-friendly way could park their bike in the bicycle garage on the Dern'schen site. The garage was guarded free of charge during the event.

Handicrafts, small pieces of furniture, silver jewelry, woodwork and leather goods were just some of the highlights: Artisans from the region, Germany and abroad presented their work at a total of 53 stands. This year, seven new stands with delicatessen and decorative items were added. The offer was complemented by twelve snack stands, including a new stand with Spanish churros on Mauritiusplatz, as well as three wine stands from the region.

A special highlight was the traditional large fabric market on the Dern'schen grounds, which took place on Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm. With around 100 stands, it offered a wide selection of fabrics, patterns and accessories for sewing and tailoring. There was also a juice bar, a crêpe stand and a stand with coffee and cake to cater for visitors' physical well-being.

On open Sunday, organized in cooperation with the Wiesbaden wunderbar advertising association, the stores and businesses in the historic pentagon opened their doors from 1 pm to 6 pm. It made the city center lively and attractive as a shopping destination, attracted additional visitors who wanted to enjoy the sights and flair of Wiesbaden in addition to shopping and offered retailers the opportunity to assert themselves as local providers compared to large shopping centers or online retailers and to increase customer loyalty.

Artists from the region provided musical entertainment on the stage at Mauritiusplatz on all three days of the event. These included Rick Cheyenne, Andre Coluccelli and Two and a Box, who delighted the audience with pop, rock and cover songs.

There was also plenty for younger visitors to discover: A children's carousel was set up on Mauritiusplatz and in front of the Luisenforum. Walk acts with Easter bunnies greeted visitors to the Easter market with sweet surprises. On Sunday, two colorful, spring-like stilt walk acts also made children's eyes wide. The Biberbau promised lots of fun for the children with its wooden spinning top workshop, and various wooden crafts were made with the little ones. The popular face painting station was also represented.
