Wiesbaden sets standards for smart urban development: Zukunftswerk opens in January 2025
Wiesbaden is taking another important step towards smart and user-centered urban development. With the opening of the Zukunftswerk, a unique place for innovation, exchange and co-design is being created in the Luisenforum.
From Monday, January 20, the Zukunftswerk will open its doors to citizens and offer space for smart solutions, creative ideas and sustainable projects.
The Zukunftswerk will be a center for shaping the city of tomorrow. It offers the people of Wiesbaden the opportunity to actively participate in the development of smart technologies and innovative services. Whether lectures, workshops or interactive hands-on stations - the Zukunftswerk creates space for experimentation and exchange between administration, civil society, science and business. A special highlight will be the interactive presentation of pioneering projects such as the "Digital Twin".
The project is being implemented in cooperation with the city management of the state capital, which provided support in the search for suitable premises and secured funding for the Zukunftswerk from the federal funding program "Sustainable inner cities and centers". Wiesbaden's Mayor Christiane Hinninger, who is responsible for city management, has endorsed this financial support, "because a smart focus that is also close to the people also contributes to making our state capital more attractive for locals and visitors."
In addition, collaborations with Fresenius University of Applied Sciences, the PD - a public sector consultant - and other partners bring new impetus to Zukunftswerk. For example, students are developing innovative formats that are specifically tailored to the needs of the citizens of Wiesbaden. At the same time, PD supports the conception and further development of the Zukunftswerk with its expertise.
"Wiesbaden is taking another important step towards becoming a smart city with the Zukunftswerk," explains Maral Koohestanian, Head of Smart City, Europe and Public Order. "Our aim is to develop smart solutions together with the people and create a space for ideas and innovations. This is how we shape a city that meets the needs of its citizens."
Koohestanian goes on to emphasize: "People are at the heart of everything we do. Zukunftswerk will show that the smart and digital transformation is not an end in itself, but will make people's lives noticeably easier. We rely on close cooperation with citizens in order to develop needs-based and sustainable solutions."
With the opening of the Zukunftswerk, Wiesbaden is setting an example for user-oriented and smart urban development. In the coming weeks, the city will provide further insights into the planned formats and offers of the Zukunftswerk. The Zukunftswerk will be a place where ideas grow and smart solutions for the challenges of today and tomorrow are created.
