As an association of 15 districts, 11 cities and the state of Hesse, RMV has set out to organize regional transport in an area covering three quarters of Hesse. Its basic tasks include the introduction of the Rhine-Main interval, the ordering of regional transport services, both by rail and regional buses, the creation of a uniform fare system and comprehensive marketing.
