Parental allowance is a payment for parents who are not working or not working full-time to care for a child or who interrupt their employment to care for their child. It is intended to support parents in securing their livelihood and is primarily designed as a compensation payment. Parental allowance is paid beyond the period of maternity leave, for a maximum of 14 months.
