The Wiesbaden Care Authority is regularly looking for people who are interested in working as an independent professional caregiver. Professional caregiver is not a traditional profession requiring training, but knowledge in various areas is essential for the job. In particular, knowledge of care law, basic psychological and psychiatric knowledge, communication skills, knowledge of the support structures of the welfare state and knowledge of asset management are required. The Care Organization Act and the Ordinance on the Registration of Professional Caregivers (BtRegV) set out this knowledge in more detail, and you can also find the relevant information in the information sheet on proof of expertise below. Please contact us directly if you have any questions about how you can obtain this knowledge or to what extent previous qualifications are recognized.

With the introduction of the Supervision Organization Act on 1 January 2023, professional supervisors must register with the competent authority (home authority). Upon application by the caregiver, a notice of registration as a professional caregiver will be issued as part of an administrative procedure. This is valid nationwide.

The authority in whose district the applicant has their registered office has local jurisdiction. For applicants who do not have a registered office for their professional activity, jurisdiction is based on their place of residence.

All information required for registration is summarized in the information sheet Supervision from 1 January 2023. You can find a lot more information and all kinds of interesting facts about legal guardianship on the pages of the Federal Ministry of Justice linked below, the two professional associations or in the online lexicon of guardianship law.
