The driving license for categories C, CE, C1 or C1E, D, DE, D1 or D1E is issued for a maximum of five years and can be extended by five years at the request of the license holder.

valid electronic residence permit for foreign passports
current biometric photograph (a self-service terminal for digital image capture is available. Costs 6,00 Euro)
Medical certificate (not older than one year) and ophthalmologic certificate (not older than two years)
for class D from the age of 50: performance certificate from an occupational physician (not older than one year with the following contents: Resilience, orientation ability, concentration ability, attention performance, reaction ability). Proof can be provided e.g. by an occupational or occupational health certificate from an officially recognized assessment body for driving fitness.
Current driving license
Transcript of the driving license (list of driving license data if it was not issued in Wiesbaden). This file card copy can be obtained from the authority that issued the current driver's license. A copy of the file card is not necessary if the applicant already holds an EU driving license.
Fees
The fee is based on the current version of the scale of fees for road traffic measures.

Remark
Persons who drive a truck or bus for a living are obliged to provide proof of an initial qualification or further training. The obligation to provide proof applies to persons who hold or are applying for a driving license for categories C1, C1E, C, CE, D1, D1E, D and DE. This only applies if the driving license is to be used commercially in road haulage or passenger transport. In order to use the services of the driving license authority, you must be registered as having your main residence in Wiesbaden.
