The State Capital of Wiesbaden is responsible for external school matters, in particular for
- the establishment, operation and closure of schools;
- determining and changing the organizational form of schools
- school construction;
- the furnishing and equipping of school buildings and classrooms
- the provision of teaching materials;
- the determination of school districts for elementary school, schools for learning assistance and vocational schools;
- the provision of staff for secretariats, caretakers/janitors, lunch tables and cleaning at the schools
- drawing up school development plans;
- the handling and financing of school transportation.
The education authority of the state capital Wiesbaden is not responsible for
- the official and technical supervision of the schools;
- the provision of teaching staff;
- internal school operations, i.e. everything to do with teaching and its organization (timetables, class distribution, grading, transfers, etc.).
These tasks are carried out by the State Education Authority for the Rheingau-Taunus district and the state capital Wiesbaden.
