Sulzbach, Johann Heinrich (called Karl)
Laundry owner, local politician
Born: December 11, 1884 in Wiesbaden
died: November 24, 1955 in Wiesbaden-Bierstadt

Johann Heinrich (called Karl) Sulzbach was the owner of a laundry in Bierstadt (opens in a new tab) founded by his mother-in-law in 1900, which he took over after his marriage in 1908.

According to his own statements, Sulzbach was a member of the National Socialist People's Welfare Organization and the German Labour Front between 1934 and 1945. Due to his age, he did not have to do any military service during the Second World War.

After the Second World War, Sulzbach handed over the management of the laundry to his son and became active in local politics in Wiesbaden-Bierstadt. As a member of the SPD, he became the first chairman of the district council at the end of 1946. He held this office until the local elections in 1948. Sulzbach was also chairman of the Bierstadt local association (IG) from 1951 to 1953.

A street in the Bierstadt district was named after Karl Sulzbach by resolution of the city council on February 13, 1964.
