Stadtjugendring Wiesbaden e.V. (SJR)

The Stadtjugendring Wiesbaden (SJR), a voluntary association of youth associations and organizations, was first founded in 1920 by Wilhelm Leidenbach, a Christian youth leader at the time. Disbanded during the Nazi era, it was re-established in 1946 with the aim of giving children and young people a new perspective after the Second World War.

Today, the association includes groups as diverse as church youth communities, the scouts, the DLRG and the youth fire department. The largest member organization is the Hessian Sports Youth, which represents all sports clubs in Hesse. The SJR is financed by public funds and participates in the city's youth welfare committee and its sub-committees and specialist committees. Since 1986, the SJR has been running the youth nature campsite at Freudenberg, which has won several awards for its special nature education programs and ecological focus.

In 2009, it received the "best' 09" youth work award from the Hessian Youth Ring in the category "Critical consumption and sustainable action". In 2011, he was among the winners of the competition organized by the drugstore chain "dm" "Ideen. Initiative. Future".
