In the 1930s, Kurt Lonquich completed an apprenticeship as a retail salesman after leaving school in Tier. In the 1930s, he belonged to the Hitler Youth for a time, from which he was expelled in 1936.
Lonquich moved to Erbenheim in 1941 and joined the textile retail business that his father had taken over from Jewish merchant Adolf Levi in 1937 as an "Aryanization business". Kurt Lonquich was not called up for service in the Wehrmacht, and after the end of the Second World War, no proceedings were opened against him. Lonquich continued to work in the family business. In 1970, he took over the sole management of the family fashion store from his mother. Kurt Lonquich ran the business together with his wife and sister.
He joined the CDU in 1952. The following year, he became a member of the CDU district executive and was treasurer of the district association for twelve years. Lonquich was a member of the Erbenheim local council from 1952 to 1960. He was a member of the town council from 1956 to 1989. From 1960, Lonquich was deputy chairman of the Wiesbaden city council for 19 years and from 1979 for ten years. Lonquich was involved in numerous committees and commissions of the city council. Of central importance was his work in the operating commission of the spa facilities, where he campaigned for the further development of the spa and congress sector. He served as the second chairman of the Wiesbaden-Rheingau Retail Association from 1953 and as its first chairman from 1975 to 1985. In 1979, he was elected to the executive committee at state level.
In 1977, the state of Hesse awarded him the "Letter of Honor of the State of Hesse" and in 1979 the "Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany". In 1989, he was awarded the badge of honor of the state capital Wiesbaden. After his retirement from the city parliament, Lonquich was awarded the honorary title of "City Elder". A street name in Erbenheim commemorates him.
