State Senior Citizens' Association of Hesse (LSVH)

The State Senior Citizens' Representation of Hesse is the voluntary association of senior citizens' representations formed in Hessian cities, municipalities and districts and thus represents the interests of older people at state level. The State Senior Citizens' Representation Hesse is politically neutral, non-denominational and independent of associations. It currently has 135 members (as of July 2015). The state government involves the State Senior Citizens' Representative Council of Hesse in all state matters that particularly affect the interests of older people. The Hessian Ministry of Social Affairs is the point of contact. In addition, the State Senior Citizens' Representation Hesse is the point of contact for institutions, associations and groups that deal with special issues and problems of senior citizens. The State Seniors' Representation was given its current name in March 1994 with the adoption of a statute and entry in the register of associations.

Since 2001, the office of the State Seniors' Representation has been located at Feuerbachstraße 33 in Wiesbaden. The board consists of 12 volunteers who are elected for three years by the general meeting. They must have reached the age of 60. In 2010, the board was honored by the Hessian Minister of Social Affairs for its commitment with the state award for "social civic engagement". The State Seniors' Representation of Hesse is a member of the Federal Working Group of the State Seniors' Representation and is also involved in European associations of seniors' organizations.
