Ländchesdom - Protestant church in Wiesbaden-Delkenheim

Soon after the consecration of the church, the tower and the massive nave, which are visible from afar against the silhouette of Delkenheim, led to the name Ländchesdom (Ländches Cathedral). By the beginning of the 19th century, the simple previous building had become too small for the Protestant community in Delkenheim. By 1837, there were already 588 Protestants and their numbers continued to grow. In the second half of the 19th century, the situation became increasingly difficult, especially as the church had fallen into disrepair. The church council therefore turned to the Prussian government for support in 1891. In the end, the state transferred the burden of construction to the parish in return for a payment of over 10,000 marks, and the parish decided to rebuild the church.

After the demolition of the old building, the foundation stone for the new building was laid on 26.08.1893. The plans for the new church in neo-Gothic style were drawn up by the Herborn architect Ludwig Hofmann (1862-1933). The building was consecrated on 12.09.1894.
