Knorr-Anders, who studied social sciences and had literary ambitions since the end of the war, settled in Wiesbaden after fleeing East Prussia in 1948, where she met her husband, Ernst Knorr.
She wrote novels, short stories and essays. Later, she also worked as a journalist. Since the 1980s, she has written for major national newspapers and magazines and for the Wiesbadener Kurier. Her travel guides, reviews, cover stories and other works have made her well-known beyond Wiesbaden. Knorr-Anders is best known to Wiesbadeners for her series "Lovers of Cultural History".
She has received several awards for her work. In 1972 she received the Radio Play and Storyteller Prize of the East German Cultural Council Foundation, in 1977 the Journalist Prize of the Free Welfare Organization, in 1980 the Andreas Gryphius Prize and in 1990 the Emma Journalist Prize.
