Hessenkolleg Wiesbaden is a public school for adults that leads to the Abitur in three years. In contrast to the part-time evening grammar schools, Hessenkolleg Wiesbaden offers daytime lessons. The range of subjects, curricula and examination requirements correspond to those of the Gymnasium.

Hessenkolleg Wiesbaden was founded in 1959 as one of the first colleges in Germany after the Second World War in order to attract previously neglected sections of the population and regions to academic education. Instead of the originally planned centralized institutes, several colleges were established throughout the state. In December 1958, around 180 applicants underwent the rigorous selection process for the first course at Hessenkolleg Wiesbaden. In the meantime, the colleges and evening high schools have become integral parts of the education system. Since 2007, centralized Abitur examinations have also been held for adult schools in Hesse.

Hessenkolleg Wiesbaden has been located at Alexandrastraße 6-8 since 1969.
