Society of Friends of the Wiesbaden State Theater e.V.
The Gesellschaft der Freunde des Staatstheaters Wiesbaden e.V. was founded in 1931 under the leadership of city councillor Heinrich Glücklich and existed until 1933. In 1962, at the instigation of culturally interested fellow citizens, the society was re-established with the aim of intensively and purposefully promoting the theater. Under the dedicated leadership of the chairmen Dr. Karl Fill (1902-1990), Dr. Norbert Vollmer, Dr. Georg Zülch and Dr. Hans-Joachim Jentsch, the society became an important part of Wiesbaden's cultural life. Dr. Bernd Kummer has been its chairman since 1997; Helmut Nehrbaß has been the new chairman since 2014.
The society supports the Hessisches Staatstheater Wiesbaden in a variety of ways, for example with donations for elaborate productions, involves its members in the work of the theater by attending rehearsals, introductory events and discussions, provides financial resources for urgently needed purchases, including material ones, and is a reliable, if occasionally critical, partner of the artistic director.
