Volunteer Center Wiesbaden e.V. (FWZ)
The Freiwilligenzentrum Wiesbaden e.V. (FWZ) is the central information, advice and placement center for civic engagement in Wiesbaden. Founded in 1999 as part of the "Active after family and career" initiative, the FWZ is a non-partisan and independent institution.
Located in the Schenk'sches Haus at Friedrichstraße 32, the FWZ advises interested people on the possibilities of civic engagement and mediates in many fields of activity. The FWZ cooperates with around 300 social and cultural institutions and independent organizations, which currently (end of 2015) involve around 640 actively engaged people in their work. The FWZ's tasks also include searching for and developing new fields of activity, acquiring new cooperation partners, advising institutions (e.g. on insurance issues) and helping with the selection of offers. Projects in cooperation with schools, refugees and the organization of volunteer days are becoming increasingly important. On the initiative of the FWZ, the networking of facilities and support measures is also being promoted ("Round Table Citizen Engagement").
