Döring, Karl
Motorcycle racer
Born: 01.09.1906 in Frankfurt am Main
died: 14.05.1992 in Wiesbaden
Döring, whose sporting and professional career is closely linked to that of his twin brother Walter, became German cement track and road champion in the 125 cm3 class in the first few years after the Second World War. He also won the initially unofficial title of German road champion in this motorcycle class in the following years of 1948 and 1949, when the championship became official.
He achieved his sporting successes with a racing machine he developed himself, in the planning of which his brother Walter also played a major role. With this 125cc machine, they coined the term "Kochbrunnen class" in German motorsport. The twin brothers founded the Döring car dealership in Schiersteiner Straße back in 1931, where they celebrated their 40th anniversary in 1971.
They remained closely involved in motorsport for many decades after their active careers, taking part in numerous events such as the classic car rally on the Nürburgring and various veterans' meetings.
Their commitment to motorsport was reflected in the awarding of the highest honors of the German Motorsport Association and the ADAC as well as the golden motorsport badge.
