Diakonisches Werk Wiesbaden

Diakonisches Werk Wiesbaden at Rheinstraße 65 is part of Diakonie Deutschland, the social service of the Protestant church.

When Diakonie began its work in Wiesbaden in 1962, many people seeking help were unable to manage their own personal affairs, such as visits to the authorities or doctors, which is why the "Betreuungsverein" was founded in 1966. At the same time, "Meals on Wheels" was introduced to help the elderly, which was expanded in 1978 to include "Home Help". Specialist dementia counseling has been continuously expanded since 2001.

In the "House for Mother and Child", opened in 1970, young mothers are given the opportunity to raise their children themselves with socio-educational support despite difficult conditions. In 1986, the "Women's Shelter" and the Center for Counselling and Therapy completed the range of help on offer. At the same time, the "Teestube" opened its doors, offering homeless people a place to go. The range of services was expanded with street social work, a "transitional home" and assisted living. Debt counseling has been available since 2005.
