Television director

After studying music and acting, Böhmer, who originally wanted to become an opera singer, received his first engagement at the Wiesbaden State Theater in 1948. In 1954, he moved to Hessischer Rundfunk as an assistant director, where his career as a TV director began.

In the following decades, Böhmer was responsible for numerous popular television shows, including "Einer wird gewinnen" with Hans-Joachim Kulenkampff, "Musik ist Trumpf", "Am laufenden Band" with Rudi Carrell and the "Peter Alexander Show".

Böhmer was awarded the "Telestar" television prize for his services and the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 1985. He retired from the television business in 1999.

He had lived in Wiesbaden and Naurod since 1945. His grave is in the Südfriedhof cemetery.
