Biebricher, Rolf
Biebricher, Rolf
Editor, crime writer, author
Born: 26.01.1931 in Wiesbaden
died: 01.12.1997 in Wiesbaden
The grandson of the mayor Philipp Holl attended elementary school and grammar school in Wiesbaden. After leaving school, Biebricher was a trainee at a daily newspaper and then worked as a journalist.
Between 1949 and 1963, he worked for various German daily and weekly newspapers as well as for Hessischer Rundfunk, Südwestfunk and Saarländischer Rundfunk. As a freelance journalist, he wrote reports on socio-political issues and problems faced by young people.
He has published reports and short stories under various pseudonyms. He also wrote crime novels, crime radio plays, stage thrillers, radio satires and numerous feature articles for the daily and weekly press.
From 1963-96 he worked in the public relations department of the state chancellery of the Hessian state government in Wiesbaden.
Biebricher's literature is clearly in the line of the mostly cheerful and entertaining crime novels of the 1960s. As a rule, there was no sign of his social commitment in them. This genre was generally not influenced by social issues until later. Biebricher's stories and radio plays were broadcast for many years as "midnight thrillers" on Saarländischer Rundfunk. Biebricher was a master of pointed narration. For his first novel "Mord! Schauplatz Zürich", he received the Edgar Wallace Prize in 1963.
