Albert was a trained bricklayer and worked for the Hammel & Westenberger company. During the Nazi era, he was a member of the German Labor Front, the Nazi Warriors' League and the Reichsluftschutzbund. From 1946 to 1960, Karl Albert was mayor of his home town of Breckenheim (opens in a new tab).
Karl Albert died on January 23, 1969 in Wiesbaden-Breckenheim. In the course of the incorporation of Breckenheim by the state capital Wiesbaden, Gartenstraße, where Albert had been registered, was renamed Karl-Albert-Straße in his honor.
