Run-off election for Lord Mayor: March 30, 2025
Next election date: run-off election on March 30, 2025. Gert-Uwe Mende and Thilo von Debschitz competed against each other, the provisional final result is now available, Gert-Uwe Mende prevailed and remains Wiesbaden's Lord Mayor.
The Lord Mayor is elected for a term of six years. He/she is both Chairperson of the Magistrate and Head of Administration, i.e. the highest superior of all civil servants and employees of the City of Wiesbaden.
The election of the Lord Mayor is based on the principles of majority voting.
The candidate who receives an absolute majority of votes in the first ballot - more than half of all valid votes cast - is elected. If none of the candidates receives more than 50 percent of the votes, the two candidates with the most votes will run in a second ballot.
The Lord Mayor of the state capital Wiesbaden has been Gert-Uwe Mende (SPD) since July 2, 2019.
