Youth Parliament
The first Wiesbaden Youth Parliament was constituted in December 2009. Since then, 31 elected young parliamentarians - now in their seventh electoral term - have been meeting at regular intervals in the town hall.
The meetings take place on Tuesdays or Wednesdays from 5 pm. They are open to the public so that anyone interested can attend without prior registration.
How can you join the Youth Parliament?
The members of the Youth Parliament are elected directly by the young people of Wiesbaden. Elections are open to 31 people who are between the ages of 14 and 22 on the key date for drawing up the electoral roll and have their main place of residence in Wiesbaden.
An appeal in the Wiesbaden newspapers and various advertising measures, particularly on social media channels, will publicize the election day and the details of the election. Interested parties can then apply for a place in the Youth Parliament.
Young people in Wiesbaden between the ages of 14 and 22 are eligible to vote. The electoral office will send postal voting documents to all eligible voters in this age group in good time so that they can vote conveniently by post.
What is a youth parliament for?
In addition to the district youth representatives, the "Youth in City Hall" project and the "Youth Conference", the Youth Parliament is another important building block for increasing young people's participation in the city's political life. It represents the interests of Wiesbaden's young people vis-à-vis the city council and its committees, the magistrate and the local councils.
