New municipal website goes online

On Wednesday, March 26, the city administration of Wiesbaden will present its new website, which will go online in the afternoon. The redesigned website enables citizens to use it more quickly, intuitively and barrier-free and represents an important step towards the digital future.

"This relaunch is far more than just a visual and technical update, it is a paradigm shift in the digital communication of our city administration. In order to provide citizens with quick access to services and information, we have implemented modern technologies and rethought our entire approach to digital content," says Mayor Christiane Hinninger.

The new website is optimized for mobile devices. An optimized search function provides quick results, while the homepage offers up-to-date information and the service and administrative services at a glance. Another new feature is the option to receive alerts directly as web push notifications after logging in. In addition, the first content is available in sign language and easy-to-read language, a service that will be expanded further. Thanks to machine translation, all website content is available in twelve languages.

A focus group of 22 citizens validated the design and helped shape the navigation. Another new feature is that the organizational units manage their own content, which means that information is always up to date. The wiesbaden.de editorial team ensures the quality of the content and the training of the approximately 150 editors, who continue to cover the central topics. The website relaunch was implemented by the Office for Innovation, Organization and Digitization in collaboration with Wiesbaden Congress und Marketing (editorial team), Sitepark GmbH (technology) and the Wiesbaden agency "die firma" (design) over a period of 15 months.

Lord Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende emphasizes: "With the new website, we are taking a big step towards the digital future of our city. The modern, barrier-free and user-friendly design ensures that all citizens have quick and easy access to important information and services."

Technologically, the portal relies on modern solutions: Virtual servers ensure security and scalability and a dynamic event calendar integrates important dates. Additional functions such as a watch list and an RSS feed round off the offer. With this relaunch, the city of Wiesbaden has created a digital platform that meets the needs of its citizens - modern, transparent and future-oriented. And best of all - the new site will be continuously developed. Further functions are already being coordinated.
