Lucy Fricke presents her new novel "Das Fest"
Love, laughter, courage to face life - for the melancholy film director Jakob, his 50th birthday becomes a day full of miracles and encounters, as Lucy Fricke describes in her new novel. On Thursday, March 20, the bestselling author will present "Das Fest" at 7.30 pm at the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine, Frankfurter Straße 1.
The evening will be hosted by journalist Ariane Binder (SWR). The event is part of the "Friends for Life" series, which focuses on different models of friendly relationships. The event is organized by the Literaturhaus Villa Clementine/Kulturamt Wiesbaden.
Jakob was once a celebrated film director, now he is sinking into self-pity, lethargy and world-weariness. His 50th birthday seems like an insurmountable abyss and he realizes that there is no way he wants to celebrate. However, he hasn't reckoned with his childhood friend Ellen, who takes him by the hand and sends him on a journey: into the past, to childhood friends and former partners, and to a review of his life to date, which is anything but over.
Lucy Fricke, born in Hamburg in 1974, is the multi-award-winning author of several novels and short stories. Her novel "Töchter" (Daughters) won the Bavarian Book Prize in 2018, has been translated into eight languages and made into a movie. "Das Fest" is her sixth novel.
Tickets are available in advance at a price of 9 euros, concessions 7 euros, plus advance booking fee at the Wiesbaden Tourist Information Office, Marktplatz 1, telephone (0611) 1729930; online via the Literaturhaus homepage. At the box office on site, admission costs 11 euros, concessions 9 euros.
