The Press Office issues filming permits.
If you would like to apply for a filming permit for the Wiesbaden city area, please send an email with all the important information to pressereferatwiesbadende. The press office will help you unbureaucratically.
To enable the press office to issue you a filming permit as quickly as possible, your email should contain the following information:
- Medium and producer (production company, company, school or similar) - Filming location, motif, date and time - Occasion (brief description of the concept) - People involved - Equipment used - Any special requirements - Full address and telephone number of the contact person
When do I need a filming permit?
You need a filming permit from the city if you want to film in public squares, streets, properties or buildingsowned by the city of Wiesbaden.
If you are filming on private land or properties that are not owned by the city, you need the permission of the respective owners. For example, we as the city are not responsible for filming in and around Biebrich Palace. Please contact the Landesbetrieb Bau und Immobilien Hessen (opens in a new tab).
How quickly can I obtain a filming permit?
Permits can take more or less time depending on the effort involved. As Wiesbaden is a popular filming location, you should submit your application at least two weeks before the shoot. It may take longer to process your application if you want to film in parks, cemeteries or forests. This also applies if roads have to be closed for filming.
What else do I need to consider?
A filming permit alone is not enough, especially for complex filming. You should therefore plan time for the following processes.
Interventions in traffic
A filming permit does not entitle you to use streets, sidewalks, parking lots and other areas that are closed to public traffic (such as pedestrian zones). You will need your own written permit for this, which is subject to a fee. Apply for this in good time from the road traffic authority. You can contact the road traffic authority at (0611) 316547 and strassenverkehrsbehoerdewiesbadende
Noise protection
A filming permit does not exempt you from complying with noise protection regulations. Report any special noise events to the Environmental Agency in good time before filming. You can contact the Environmental Agency at laerm-und-luftwiesbadende
Noise protection regulations apply in particular to filming on Sundays and public holidays or at night. In residential areas, the operation of equipment and machinery is prohibited around the clock on Sundays and public holidays. On working days, the ban applies from 8 pm to 7 am. Take these rules into account when operating power generators, for example. Further information can be found in the Equipment and Machinery Noise Protection Ordinance (opens in a new tab).
Environmental protection and nature conservation
You may only film in the forest from sunrise to sunset. You are not allowed to film there at night to protect wildlife. In addition, flying drones in the forest is generally not permitted. The RP Darmstadt is responsible for special permits in FFH and nature conservation areas.
If you want to film in a protected area such as a landscape or nature reserve, you must contact the Lower Nature Conservation Authority at least three weeks in advance, natur-landschaftsschutzwiesbadende You can view the location of protected areas on the geoportal (opens in a new tab).
Hedges, bushes, dense woody structures, banks and bodies of water may not be entered. During the breeding and settling season from March to September, you must also keep your distance from these.
The use of fireworks, fire pits, confetti cannons or the use of drifting missiles such as balloons is only permitted in exceptional cases during filming. For reasons of environmental and species protection, we recommend refraining from this when planning the filming.
Changes to the filming location (pruning of plants, changes to the ground, etc.) must be agreed in advance. Such changes occur, for example, when you set up stages or backdrops.
You must leave the location as you found it (proper disposal of waste, removal of any damage caused, etc.).
Information for citizens
As much as the city of Wiesbaden is pleased to be a popular filming location, the protection of its citizens is just as important to us. Avoid inconvenience and restrictions for local residents during filming.
In the event of unavoidable disruptions, you are obliged to inform the residentsin writing . This must be done one week before filming begins. State the specific inconveniences or restrictions (road closures, no stopping zones, filming at night, noise, etc.) and a contact person for questions.
In the event of severe nuisances and restrictions - especially during quiet hours and at night - you are obliged to contact those affected and suggest solutions.
