Barrier-free living
Many people want to live independently in their own homes. One prerequisite is a comfortable and barrier-free design of the apartment, house and living environment. The Office for Social Work offers free advice on this.
Accessibility offers many advantages: Families with children benefit from sufficiently wide doorways. An accessible elevator helps people in wheelchairs. Good lighting is important for people with visual impairments in order to perceive their environment and information.
If you want to adapt your home for increasing age, a care situation or a disability, there are various options. In the bathroom, for example, the use of a bath lift, the installation of grab rails or the installation of a floor-level shower can help to improve safety. Technical systems support independent living: Home emergency call systems, stove safety devices or sensors that detect falls. The installation of a stair lift makes it possible to reach the upper floors. Many of the solutions are suitable for creating a comfortable living environment for all ages.
Barrier-free design of public buildings is important for everyone.
The advice center for barrier-free building and living provides information for various target groups: Citizens, architects, landlords and tradespeople.
The staff provide advice on suitable measures and how to finance them. The consultations take place at home or in the Belle Wi showroom. Please contact the Housing Department, Barrier-free Building and Housing Advice Center.
