Advice and service on monument protection and preservation

Large parts of the urban area of Wiesbaden, including the historic town centers of most of the suburbs, are listed buildings.

"Conservation is sustainability in action. With every stone, every beam, every wall that is preserved, existing resources are conserved. They not only preserve the past, but also create the future." - Angela Dorn Hessian Minister for Science and Art

The team at the Lower Monument Protection Authority advises owners or property managers, architects, craftsmen and other interested parties if, for example, they wish to acquire a listed building, carry out renovation work or other construction measures on or in listed buildings or plan a new building near a cultural monument or within a listed urban area, a so-called "overall complex".

Our job is to provide you with the best possible support for your heritage conservation project.
Aspects relating to monument protection and preservation can be discussed in person - we will try to answer all your questions comprehensively.

In addition to specialist information on listed buildings, we can also provide you with information on possible financial support, such as tax concessions or other financial support options, as well as on the approval process for listed buildings.

Consulting services - Preliminary consultation

In addition to telephone consultations, we also offer the option of a video conference. Personal consultations in our offices are also possible by prior appointment.

If required, we can also arrange an appointment on site by prior arrangement.

Documents for the consultation

If available, it is best to have the following documents ready for the consultation:

  • (historical) photos of your monument and, if possible, its surroundings
  • existing as-built plans
  • initial sketchy plans with your ideas
  • Offers already received from companies

This will enable the monument conservators to quickly gain an initial overview and advise you as comprehensively as possible.
