Invest sustainably, shape the future
The 16th Sustainability Dialogue with Kristina Jeromin, Lord Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende and Mayor Christiane Hinninger took place on November 10, 2023 in the Bürgersaal at Fresenius University of Applied Sciences.
The theme was: Investing sustainably, shaping the future - a sustainable financial system as a pillar of socio-ecological transformation.
We are in the midst of a complex structural change that affects all dimensions of our society, economic system and politics. Combating the climate crisis and consistently achieving the United Nations' sustainability goals are tasks of the century - and they cannot be postponed.
In order to successfully shape this change, we must make our economic value creation sustainable. Only an economy that respects the natural limits of our planet and guarantees uniform and high social standards will be resilient and therefore competitive in the long term.
A sustainable financial system is one of the central keys to driving forward the transformation of our economy in a targeted manner and with the necessary speed. This event will discuss the options available to local authorities and how citizens can make an effective contribution to the socio-ecological transformation through individual purchasing decisions, private investments or their choice of bank.
Kristina Jeromin discussed these questions with Lord Mayor Gert-Uwe Mende and Mayor Christiane Hinninger. The event was moderated by journalist Petra Boberg and could be followed live on the internet.
