The Wiesbaden ÖKOPROFIT Club has already been a recognized energy efficiency network five times since 2015 as part of the initiative by the German government and business associations. Energy efficiency networks, the voluntary, systematic and targeted exchange of experience between companies from a region or sector, have proven to be a successful approach to implementing measures to optimize energy efficiency. The first phase of the initiative, which aimed to initiate 500 energy efficiency networks by the end of 2020, has confirmed the benefits of the networks and established them as a successful tool for increasing energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Since January 2021, the alliance has been continued by the federal government and industry as the Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection Networks Initiative, with an expansion of the content spectrum to include the topics of climate protection and sustainability. As part of the new term until 2025, which aims to establish 300 to 350 new networks, the Wiesbaden ECOPROFIT Club 2024/2025 is being launched again. A total of 34 companies and institutions are placing a special focus on energy efficiency and climate protection and pursuing a common savings target. The state capital of Wiesbaden acts as the sponsor of the Wiesbaden network and is supported by the Chamber of Industry and Commerce as a long-standing ECOPROFIT partner.
