Municipal climate station "Wiesbaden-Süd"

The regular recording of the weather has a tradition of over 150 years in Wiesbaden, which is also of great importance today in the context of climate observations in the urban environment.

The "Wiesbaden-Süd" climate station is operated under the direction of the Environmental Agency.
The following values are measured here:

  • Temperature with daily minimum and daily maximum
  • ground-level temperature
  • relative humidity
  • amount of precipitation
  • wind direction
  • wind speed and sunshine duration.

All data is transmitted to the German Weather Service and is therefore included in the data series of the German Weather Observation Network. Long-term developments and trends in the form of climate series and climate analyses are of particular interest here. Since September 2012, the measurement results have been recorded electronically. For this purpose, the weather station was completely renewed in summer 2012.

After being relocated several times, the station is now located in Balthasar-Naumann-Straße, in the vicinity of a former nursery.
