Rambach: A small idyll on the Taunus

Rambach, situated on the edge of the Taunus, combines relaxing nature with a lively community.

The situation

Rambach stretches along a narrow valley that is part of the foothills of the Taunus. The Rambach flows through the village. The buildings nestle against the slopes and directly adjoin the neighboring district of Sonnenberg. To the north, Rambach borders Niedernhausen in the Rheingau-Taunus district, while the Wiesbaden districts of Sonnenberg, Bierstadt, Heßloch and Naurod are in the immediate vicinity.

Nature and recreation

Rambach is surrounded by wide fields, meadows and forests, giving it an idyllic rural atmosphere. This makes the district a popular destination for walks and hikes. A central barbecue area also invites you to celebrate and linger.

History and archaeological finds

The history of Rambach goes back a long way. In the Goldstein Valley, 23 Bronze Age burial mounds, the remains of a Roman estate and an early medieval castle bear witness to the long settlement of the area. A special historical relic are the three bells from 1816, two of which were melted down during the Second World War.

Cultural life

Rambach is characterized by an active club life. The Lohengrin 1907 e.V. theater society can look back on a history of over 100 years and offers several productions for young and old every year. Sports enthusiasts will find a contact point in the TuS Wiesbaden-Rambach 1861 e.V.. The Rambach carnival society also organizes cultural events and strengthens the sense of community in the district.

Buildings

The Protestant church by architect Ludwig Hofmann, which still exists today, was opened in 1892. Rambach was incorporated into Wiesbaden in 1928. In the early 1960s, the local Catholics built their own church and dedicated it to St. John the Evangelist. The bronze sculpture Trio by Ute Steffens in front of Ostpreußenstraße 1-3 dates from 1974.

A highlight in Rambach

The 3.8-kilometre fitness trail in Rambach starts at the sports field and leads through the forest. 20 exercise stations with hanging frames etc. offer a sporting change in the middle of nature.

From the statistics

In Rambach, 7.8 percent of senior citizens live alone in their homes, which is almost the same as the Wiesbaden average of 7.9 percent.
