Klarenthal - living diversity

Klarenthal is one of the youngest districts in Wiesbaden and is also one of the oldest suburbs of the state capital.

The green gate

Residents proudly describe their district as the green gateway to Wiesbaden. Nestled in the slopes of the Taunus mountains, Klarenthal marks the entrance to the city and combines urban life with natural recreation.

Historical roots

Klarenthal looks back on an impressive 700-year settlement history. It was founded by King Adolf von Nassau, making the district a place steeped in history.

Modern settlement

In the 1960s, Klarenthal was developed as a satellite town according to the plans of architect Ernst May. Between 1964 and 1966, large high-rise apartment buildings, apartment blocks and terraced houses were built - surrounded by greenery. Today, the modern housing estate characterizes the image of a lively and diverse district.

Lots of greenery and good air

Klarenthal has a lot to offer nature lovers: a walk through the Wellritztal valley leads to the traces of the medieval Klarenthal monastery and on to the 25-hectare Fasanerie wildlife park. This extensive park is a very popular excursion destination and impresses with over 40 native animal species, including wolves, bears and pheasants and a diverse plant world with native flora and redwood trees.

Culture and community

Klarenthal is a lively, international district with an active community life. Annual events such as the Klarenthal Culture Days and the summer festival are popular and promote cohesion. The excellent infrastructure with schools, churches, clubs and social facilities strengthens togetherness and promotes a sense of community.

Committed and voluntary

Klarenthal is more than just a place to live, as the district is heavily involved in social projects. In Klarenthal-Nord in particular, many services have been created, such as a concierge service in the high-rise district, a dedicated district television station and meeting places for senior citizens. Volunteers make an indispensable contribution to strengthening social interaction.

A highlight in Klarenthal

Education for all: Since 1970, the Volksbildungswerk Klarenthal has been a place of learning, encounters and togetherness. A traditional adult education center has grown into a versatile educational center that reaches people in the district with heart and social focus.

From the statistics

A figure that surprises some: over half of the percentage of Klarenthal residents (57.3 percent) live in detached or semi-detached houses.
