Frauenstein - Viticulture and cherry blossom

Frauenstein, on the western edge of Wiesbaden, is a picturesque place, especially during the cherry blossom season.

In a sea of flowers

Frauenstein is also known as the "Gateway to the Rheingau". The charming surroundings, characterized by vineyards and orchards, make the district a special destination. Frauenstein attracts many visitors, especially in spring: This is when the many cherry trees shine in a sea of white blossom. The famous Frauenstein cherries can be purchased later in the year directly from farm stores or street stalls.

Rheingau wine-growing region

Wine has been grown in Frauenstein for centuries - at least as long as Frauenstein Castle, which was built on the "Spitzen Stein" around 1200. Since its restoration in the 1990s, the castle has been a popular destination for excursions. Frauenstein, with its beautiful half-timbered houses, is part of the Rheingau wine-growing region. At the entrance to the village, the European vineyard with grape varieties from all over Europe shows the connection with other wine regions. If you would like to find out more about viticulture, you can explore the educational wine trail that leads directly through the vineyards.

Goethe in Frauenstein

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe also appreciated Frauenstein. During his second stay in Wiesbaden in 1815, his interest in geology led him to the district. Here he studied the quartzite rocks. The Goethe Stone, an obelisk made of natural stone, commemorates his visit.

Hike and enjoy

Frauenstein not only invites you to visit its sights, but also to take long walks and hikes. Beautiful paths lead through the valleys of Erlenbach, Leierbach, Grorother Bach and Lippbach. The summer hillside along the Erlenbach valley is also known as a snake biotope for the rare Aesculapian snake. After an excursion, cozy inns beckon with regional specialties and a relaxed atmosphere.

Erbenheim today

Erbenheim has developed into a modern district of Wiesbaden. The district is characterized by its excellent transport connections, in particular its proximity to the A66 and B455 and its own train station. The commercial area on Kreuzberger Ring/Erbenheim Süd offers space for various companies and contributes to the economic development of the district. With its mix of residential and commercial areas and good connections to Wiesbaden city center, Erbenheim is an attractive place to live and work.

A highlight in Frauenstein

From the Goethestein above Frauenstein, you have a particularly beautiful panoramic view over the vineyards and the Rhine Valley.

From the statistics

In Frauenstein, 42.3 percent of people live in their own four walls - almost twice as many as in the rest of Wiesbaden (23.3 percent).
