Dotzheim: a district with character
Culture, history and a natural environment make Dotzheim an attractive place to live.
Incorporated since 1928
Dotzheim, once the largest village in the Duchy of Nassau, now has a population of almost 28,500. Wiesbaden's second largest district has retained its independent character even after incorporation.
Nature and landscape
To the north and northwest, the wooded Hochtaunus with Hoher Wurzel and Schläferskopf dominate the landscape. The Weilburg Valley, which extends to the south, and the extensive Belzbach Valley with its adjoining areas - the Schiersteiner Hang in the west and the Wiesbadener Kessel in the east - are ideal for hikes and walks. Many of these routes are listed in the hiking tours "Around Wiesbaden".
Culture and festivals for all generations
Dotzheim is known for its rich cultural and club life. Events such as the Dotzheimer Tage or the Winzerfest in the Winzerhöfe attract numerous people. In addition, district festivals in Freudenberg, Sauerland and Schelmengraben promote togetherness and strengthen the community.
A special highlight is the local history museum, which keeps the history of Dotzheim alive. Equally exciting is the rediscovery of the historic Judenkirsch grape variety, which is closely linked to the district's wine-growing tradition.
Freudenberg Castle and the Aartal Railway
One of the cultural attractions is Freudenberg Castle with its interactive exhibition "Field of Experience for the Senses", which delights guests from Germany and abroad. Another highlight is the Aartalbahn - Hesse's longest monument. This historic railroad line is completely listed and is now operated by the Nassauische Touristikbahn e. V. as a museum railroad. The starting point for the journey on the Langenschwalbacher Bahn is Dotzheim station, a popular destination for railroad enthusiasts.
A highlight in Dotzheim
The highest point of Dotzheim (and the whole of Wiesbaden) is near the summit of the Hohe Wurzel - at 608 meters.
From the statistics
Almost 69 percent of people in Dotzheim live in detached or semi-detached houses.
