Delivery zones in Wiesbaden: Efficient loading and unloading made easy
Wiesbaden has introduced delivery zones marked in turquoise to facilitate loading and unloading, reduce second-row stops and promote a fairer flow of traffic for everyone.
Use of the delivery zones
According to legal regulations, all road users, including private individuals, may use the delivery zones for loading and unloading operations, for example when unloading purchases. Unfortunately, these zones are often misused as regular parking spaces, which limits their availability. To counteract this, Wiesbaden has provided the delivery zones with eye-catching turquoise markings and pictograms.
To increase the efficiency of the delivery zones, the city is planning to use digital solutions. A pilot project in Moritzstraße uses sensor technology: cameras classify vehicles according to type, such as cars, vans or trucks, and record parking times in order to detect possible misuse as parking spaces. At night, this delivery zone is available to residents as a parking space.
