The Office for Immigration and Integration has an online appointment system for submitting the naturalization application.

Naturalization

An appointment is mandatory for submitting the naturalization application.

Appointments for submitting the naturalization application must be booked online. After entering the required personal data, Wiesbaden residents who wish to obtain German citizenship can book a suitable appointment. Appointments can be booked within the next 30 days. The calendar is updated daily for this period.

A personal consultation on the naturalization procedure, the requirements, necessary documents and the costs associated with the procedure is always possible without an appointment on Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 12 noon and from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Office for Immigration and Integration at Alcide de Gasperi Straße 2.

A foreigner can apply for German citizenship through naturalization under certain conditions.

Since 27 June 2024, you may retain your previous citizenship when naturalizing. However, this does not apply if your country of origin does not allow this - please contact your diplomatic mission abroad for more information.

  • Sufficient knowledge of the German language (e.g. German school, university or vocational qualification, German B1 certificate)
  • Commitment to the free democratic basic order of the Basic Law of the Federal Republic of Germany
  • Settlement permit, also possible with many temporary residence permits
  • Knowledge of the legal and social order and living conditions in Germany
  • Securing a livelihood through gainful employment
