The Künstlerviertel daycare center is a Montessori children's home. The guidelines of the center's concept are based on the fundamental ideas of Maria Montessori. Her image of the child and her associated core statement "Help me to do it myself" are the focus of the educational work in both care areas of the children's home. The children are given the opportunity to take individual developmental steps in building their personality. They are given time and the greatest possible freedom to build up their independence and self-confidence. The basis for the structures required for this is a prepared environment throughout the nursery. Weekly plans, learning workshops and opportunities for participation complement this pedagogical focus and are intended to make the daily routine transparent for the children and offer them the opportunity for orientation and co-determination. The children experience nature in the outdoor area and on excursions. They regularly look after the chickens they have raised themselves in the outdoor aviary. There is an individual exercise program in the multi-purpose room. The proximity to the Friedrich-von-Schiller elementary school enables intensive cooperation with the aim of a gentle, pedagogically supervised transition from the Kinderhaus to elementary school. The future schoolchildren take part in first grade lessons for 2 hours once a week. Housekeepers and housekeeping assistants are trained in a training kitchen. They prepare fresh meals every day for the daycare center and for some of the elementary school pupils in accordance with the principles of health-preserving nutrition. The children receive a full meal based on a child-friendly and wholesome diet tailored to all age groups. Only fresh, natural and regional foods are used for this.
