The Galatea Anlage daycare center is an educational facility for children in the elementary sector. The staff consists of a total of six pedagogical specialists to work with 44 children as well as a cook. There are two kindergarten groups, the Seahorse Group and the Hedgehog Group, with children aged 3 to 6 years. The maximum group size is 22 children. With our own in-house kitchen, certified by the German Nutrition Society (DEG), we offer a fresh, wholesome and varied breakfast, lunch and afternoon meal every day. All meals comply with the principles of healthy nutrition. We live and work in a diverse district with a wide variety of cultures. Accordingly, our daycare center is attended by children from different cultures and different families of origin. This means that "intercultural pedagogy" or "intercultural education" is a fundamental part of our work. Two fundamental principles are particularly important to us: equality, i.e. regardless of origin, skin color, language, religious or cultural orientation, and the recognition of cultural forms and content that are considered important and relevant to an individual's identity. This also includes the appreciation of all languages that are brought in. The lifeworlds of the children and their families are therefore at the heart of our educational work. All children should be able to find themselves in the programs and rooms and experience the appreciation of their language and culture in order to build a positive identity. We want to give our children the feeling that they are welcome, exactly as they are.
