The Elsässer Platz daycare center is a Montessori children's home. The guidelines of the facility are based on the fundamental ideas of Maria Montessori. Her image of the child and the associated core statement "Help me to do it myself" determine the educational work in both care areas of the children's home. The children are supported in building up their personality in individual development steps. They are given time, the greatest possible freedom and pedagogically sound guidance to build up independence and self-confidence. The prepared Montessori environment provides the necessary structures throughout the children's home. Workshops (clay workshop with kiln, wood workshop, bee and art workshop), cross-group activities and opportunities for participation complement the educational focus. The daily routine is transparent for the children and offers opportunities for orientation and co-determination. Our outdoor area and excursions allow the children to experience nature in numerous ways. In the garden, they take care of our chickens in the large aviary. Under the guidance of a beekeeper, they learn about the annual cycle of their own bee colonies and grow vegetables and herbs in the raised beds alongside bee-friendly flowering plants. Thanks to our green oasis in the middle of the city, children can also find wild animals such as squirrels and hedgehogs here, as well as numerous insects, for which a special hotel has been built. There are professionally supervised exercise programs for all ages, and the Maier music school offers early musical education. Our kitchen staff cook fresh meals every day according to the principles of healthy nutrition. Our facility has been awarded the FIT KID certificate by the German Nutrition Society.
